Before You Begin
To make an official composition submission to SLC, you must have…
- A fellow Composer Review your music – it’s our policy!
- PDF copies of your sheet music (see PDF’s 101 & File Name Formula)
- (optional) PDF copy of an assembly part with only text and melody (see Assembly PDF & File Name Formula).
- (optional) MP3 recording of your composition (see MP3’s 101 & File Name Formula)
- Legal rights to sell the music and texts of your compositions (see Copyrights 101, Liturgical Texts, & Original Texts).
- A correctly built Copyright Notice on all copies of your music.
- An understanding of our Terms and Conditions.
- Only ONE composition in PART I – Music Review at a time.
- Large Collections of “Liturgical Text” music can be submitted 10 compositions at a time. See Collection Submission Rules.
Once you have the above ready, you can submit your music.
Throughout the process, you will receive notification updates when each of the following steps is completed:
- Music Review
Music = reviewed by the SLC Review Board and officially approved by the SL Team. - Text Review
Liturgical texts = officially reviewed by representatives of ICEL and the USCCB.
Original texts = officially reviewed by representatives of the Archdiocese of Omaha. - Publication
A music product page will be prepared on SLMusic.org.
Please note that not all music will be approved for distribution on SLMusic.org. It is possible that, during steps one or two of the review process, SLC will reject music if it is not:
- Musically Proficient
- Theologically Sound
- Liturgically Relevant
- Pastorally Appropriate
