Music Notation Software

Before you can deal with PDF’s, you have to make sure you have Music Notation Software (MNS) on your computer to create your music digitally. MNS is like the Microsoft Word of music for the computer. Below is a list of the most commonly used programs:

Finale – This is the industry standard and the world’s leading MNS. Most composers we work with use Finale.

Sibelius – Although not the “standard” in the industry, many feel that it is more intuitive than Finale, especially for new users.

Dorico – The newest giant in the industry, Dorico takes an innovative new approach to digital music notation.

​MuseScore – Equipped with the basics, MuseScore is a great “Free” MNS option.
